Weaning / Exit Plan - Anytime it’s right for you!

When is it time to wean your baby from breast/bodyfeeding, or from your milk? Only you get to decide! This consultation can happen at any time, with no judgement or shame. Our goal is to share options, so that you can decide what's the best path forward for you and your family. We can help make a plan for reducing milk supply, for transitioning to bottles, using formula, exclusive pumping, or any combination of these and more. We can also share ideas for how to make weaning baby from at-breast feeds as gentle and smooth as possible. Whether you want to make an immediate change, or you're looking ahead to the end of your nursing journey, we can help with next steps that are right for you.

Return to Work - Schedule 2-4 weeks before end of maternity leave (but earlier or later is fine too!)

In this consultation, we will provide expert advice to develop an individualized plan to meet your unique needs. We can help you maintain your supply by avoiding some common pitfalls, or help with a plan to intentionally decrease supply in a healthy and safe way. We'll discuss the specifics of your work schedule, place, childcare and more. We'll cover: How much do you need to pump, and send in bottles? What equipment is necessary and helpful for you? When should you begin/change your pumping routine? How can you make sure bottle feeds are supporting, not harming, your goals? We'll help you get a custom plan in place so you can feel confident about this new routine. More info here.

Preparing for Solid Foods and the Second 6 months - Schedule around month 4-5

The second half of your baby's first year is a time of lots of transitions. Starting to introduce solid foods is a big one, along with teething (and biting!), different sleep patterns, and more distracted feeding, especially as crawling and mobility takes off. We'll help with ideas of how to make these new phases as smooth as possible, including what's normal and expected for feeding routines and amounts, so you know how to plan for and react to new changes.

Beyond Year 1 - Schedule around month 9-11

Feeding into toddlerhood has its own joys and challenges. We'll discuss what's normal and expected at this age, along with your current routine, and any changes you feel you want to make. For families that have been pumping at work, usually you can now stop using the pump and just breastfeed the baby when you're together! We can help with that transition. This age is really so unique to each family - some are ready to think about weaning, some want to breastfeed for another year or more. Whatever your goal, we can help with ideas and a plan for this next phase.
