Meet the Team

Not your average lactation consultants.

Barbara Robertson is the owner of The Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor and knows what it's like to be struggling with breastfeeding. In 2008 Barbara decided to open The Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor so mothers could get their questions answered and problems solved. Barbara has more than 21 years of experience working with mothers and babies to help them resolve breastfeeding issues. She is a current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2004 and has over 30 years of teaching experience to all ages, newborn to adult. Learn more about Barbara here.

Jessica Beemsterboer started as a client first, then began working toward her IBCLC certification with Barbara as her mentor in 2017. Jessica became an IBCLC in mid 2020, and has worked with hundreds of families on lactation support. She has two young children, and the help she received when struggling with breastfeeding is what brought her to this field. She previously worked in HR and Employee Training, and has a Master's of Education in Adult Learning. Listen to her story here.

Veronica Rapin discovered the world of lactation consulting during her own challenging journey with breastfeeding pain with her son. She saw four different IBCLCs before finding the Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor where she finally got answers, support, and relief. After experiencing the struggle many women face trying to find excellent, research-informed, compassionate lactation support, she became passionate about supporting women and babies in the tender and difficult postpartum period and supporting them to reach their breastfeeding goals as well. She interned and trained at the Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor for three years and became an IBCLC in 2023.

Breastfeeding help, peace of mind!

We are often the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or yes, even 5th, lactation consultant that people have reached out to. But what a difference we can make! Treating people with kindness and respect, really listening to them, sharing the most accurate, up to date lactation research, and then helping create a plan customized to a family's breastfeeding issues and goals are the cornerstones of our practice. Making sure there is plenty of time (1-1.5 hours depending on the type of consultation) so that no one feels rushed and all the questions a family has get answered is an important difference as well.

You don't have to do it alone. Let us help make breastfeeding easier for you.

Molly N.
